Orthopedic problems in adolescents

Physical health problems encountered during adolescence may influence the development of the body if not treated. There are some anatomical areas, such as the spine, knee and ankle, to adolescents who may orthopedic problems, such as Osgood-Schlatter disease, and Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis.
Osgood-Schlatter disease is caused due to an injury or overuse of the knee, which causes swelling and pain in the area below the knee, above the shin bone. The patellar tendon and soft tissue around the gets his inflamed due to the continuous draughts in the region where the tendon connects below the knee. Usually, teenagers who are actively involved in sports and sports like football, basketball, soccer, gymnastics and ballet, tend to Osgood-Schlatter disease. Males ages eleven to fifteen and girls ages eight to thirteen are at greater risk. The reason why teenagers get this problem is the fact that bones grow faster compared with the tendons and muscles at that age and that is why the muscles and tendons stretch and become firm.
