Different spools are asked for another line size and weight, though a lot of models do now provide a variety of line specifications to be applied on the same spool. There are also different gearing ratios between handgrips and spools to conceive with some asking a single wind of the handgrip to afford a complete turn of the spool and others requiring multiple turns.

The center of the reel is known as the arbor and it’s the measurement of the arbour that influences how easy it is to wind in the agate line - an essential factor to conceive as ultimately the aim comprises to bear a fish on the end by that line. A large arbour obviously asks fewer turns of the spool handle to wind in the cast line creating the process of spinning the fish in both easier and faster.
